Bama
2009 – 2017
“We did not come here to fear the future. We came here to shape it.”
Did you know?
From ages 6 to 10, Bama lived in Indonesia with his mother and stepfather. In 1971, he moved back to Hawaii and lived with his maternal grandparents where he worked at Baskin Robbins, fueling his lifelong hatred of ice cream. Before becoming an Illinois state senator, he worked as a civil rights attorney, community organizer, lecturer and professor, for some reason granting him the title of JUNIOR senator rather than the other kind of senator.
“I do think in Washington is a little bit like American Idol, except everybody is Simon Cowell. Everybody’s got an opinion.”⠀”
