Young Hickory

1845 – 1849

The World has nothing to fear from military ambition in our government. 😆
— Young Hickory

Did you know?

Young Hickory was remarkably boring; Sam Houston referred to him as “a victim of the use of water as a beverage.” But as one of the American Idols, he had regular office ours set up so anyone could stop in and visit him, as long as they did not dance or imbibe alcohol.⠀

Fun Fact:

Young Hickory was so boring, he is remembered for having introduced Americans to the postage stamp!

Before that, coins were simply glued to the tops of envelopes.
